Best anime like chivalry of a failed knight

More and more people find themselves loving and wanting anime, which is undoubtedly visible from the increasing number of anime shows available today.

Of Course, not everybody likes them, but the number of anime lovers keeps increasing yearly, especially among teens and young adults. Anime has an advantage since the real human characters are not required to perform the stunts; therefore, the protagonists can do almost everything.

They have a way of pulling viewers in through their passionate dialogues and visual effects. With most anime made in Japan, there was a language barrier problem, which is now solved, leaving viewers from anywhere in the world to enjoy their favourite anime in their native language.

So, if you have plenty of free time and nothing to do, you need anime. For those who haven’t watched “Chivalry of Failed Knight”,” you should; here are some more related anime that will keep you busy.

16. Familiar of Zero F (2006)

“Familiar of Zero F” is just like “Chivalry of a Failed Knight”, with both the lead characters mocked initially for having inadequate powers. Both anime have similar visual themes, but “Familiar of Zero F” is based around 1100 and 1500 AD (the Middle Ages), and one has more magic.

Louise, the protagonist in “familiar of zero f”, a student of the Tristian Academy, is bullied when other young mages summon cute magical creatures. In contrast, she summons a normal Japanese boy called Saito Hiraga-a. Together, they have a new motive to discover how he got there so long ago.

Louise and Saito, having a lot in common, grow more and more closer to each other as they carry on with their magical adventure to find answers to their questions. Now you know why this is on top of our list of best anime, like Chivalry of a failed knight.

15. Kaze no Stigma (2007)

Kazuma Yagami, our protagonist who can control the wind, is banished from his home, the Kannagi household, after failing to control fire magic. Four years later, he returns home and finds everything is a mess, with many family members being killed by very powerful magic.

With his sudden return, the Kannagi family, including his own cousin Ayano, suspect him of being behind the recent attack on the family. Now stronger than ever, Kazuma must prove his innocence, and together with his young brother Ren and his cousin, they must find the real culprits and bring them to justice.

The romance theme is shown openly throughout the anime, with both the male and female leads displaying the likeness of each other until the end of the show, just like in the anime “Chivalry of a Failed Knight”. Although the two lead characters have soft spots for each other, they are completely different people when facing their enemies on the battlefield, especially the female lead.

Possessing the power to use fire, she burns down every creature that messes with the people she loves and fights tirelessly for justice. The male lead, too, has exceptional skills even after starting a bit slowly.

Nevertheless, the two heroes fight perfectly next to each other. The Kannagi family is impressed by Kazuma’s strong skills after underestimating him as the same boy who was exiled four years ago and was against becoming an elite warrior.

14. The Irregular at Magic High School (2014)

In this anime, “The Irregular at Magic High School,” again, we see an underdog who was criticized earlier to prove everybody wrong. Tatsuya, our protagonist, is enrolled in a First High School with his sister Miyuki and the two are given an entrance exam to determine their classes. Miyuki passed the test easily and was praised by everybody.

She is taken to the first Course where the bright students are. On the other hand, Tatsuya fails the test, is taken to the second Course, and is considered inadequate. Having his sister in the first Course, Tatsuya was the target of much criticism from his fellow students.

He, however, silences all of them by showcasing his excellent combat skills and powerful magic that makes him above every other student in the school.

Having made a friend who was considered a weakling, they added another member to their small group. The third member is a female character not entirely similar to them, but they live together and help each other with the competition throughout First high school.

13. Blade Dance of the Elementalers (2014)

In this unique anime, we dive into the world of spirits, with only pure maidens able to have contracts with spirits. The plot of ‘Blade Dance of the Elementalers’ is about an academy where magic and sword tournaments are used to determine the strength of students from the strongest to the weakest.

Very similar to ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’ with both having related characters, especially females, and fire being their primary power too. Kamito Kazehaya, the lead character of this anime, is a male who can surprisingly contract spirits, and he later joins Areisha Spirit Academy.

In this school, priestesses are trained as elementalists. Kamito struggles to get someone’s attention; then, he is forced to participate in the Blade Dance, a special tournament in the academy.

As he fights through the tournament, he finds things about himself that he didn’t know before. Kamito shares a lot of likeness with the lead of ‘Chivalry of a failed Knight’.

12. Absolute Duo (2015)

‘About Duo’ is not similar to ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’ apart from the unique set of weapons and being based in magic academies. The storyline follows Tooru Kokonoe, who ends up in the Koryo Academy of Magic under unfortunate events.

As he tries to adapt to his new environment filled with weaponized students as their soul manifestation, things get heated when he is asked to duel his neighbour in class in the opening ceremony.

Now, each student must yield a weapon to use in this fight. Unfortunately for Tooru, his weapon did not manifest, and instead, he yielded a shield, which he must now use to win.

11. The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water (2015)

Ayato Amagiri joins Seidoukan Academy, which is well known for magic; however, Ayato has another agenda for joining the academy. Initially, showing no interest in the battles organized by the school until he is challenged to a duel by a female character, a girl from his class, which leads to him changing his mind completely and gives him new motivation.

‘Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water’ is similar to ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’ from the magic academies to the magical powers such as fire. Other similarities are the heroines, and surprisingly, the two shows aired during the same period on different channels, not that it means anything.

Sistine Fibel is also featured in both shows. However, one is more of a romantic comedy, while the other is more action-oriented, as can be noticed from the title. So I highly recommend it.

10. AntiMagic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon (2015)

Ouka Ootori accidentally makes herself very powerful by using a forbidden spell on herself with the government against the use of magic. After joining the Anti-Magic Academy, where the students are taught to fight witches that threaten society, she finds herself drawn to Takeru Kusanaga of the 35th Test Platoon.

Despite being in this class of low-ranking fighters, Takeru possesses outstanding fighting skills, both with or without a weapon. With Ouka joining the academy, the two low-ranking fighters form one of the most formidable squads of the academy.’Anti-Magic Academy: The 35th Test Platoon has much in common with ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’.

Both are set in a magical school, although in one, the characters fight for magic, whereas in the other, the characters fight against magical beings, witches.

There are also some differences with the ‘Anti-Magic Academy’ based more on time, hence having more advanced weapons used by the characters than the medieval weapons used in ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’. Another difference viewers will easily spot is that male characters are portrayed as stronger than female characters.

9. Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle (2016)

When a rebellion overthrew an empire called Arcadia, five years later, Lux, the former prince of the empire, returned to reclaim his birthright and exert revenge on the people who ruined his empire.

Popularly known as the strongest Drag-Knight, he is now called the weakest undefeated Drag-Knight’. Lux’s life takes a huge turn when he accidentally sees the new princes of the kingdom naked, and she is left completely infuriated about it and challenges him to a drag-ride duel in which he must join a female-only school that trains knights.

Lux later joins the school after losing to Princess Lisesharte Atismata. From his traumatic past, Lux has a younger sister that he loves a lot, and he meets the heroine under embarrassing circumstances, just like Kuragane from ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’.

8. Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor (2017)

Being in one of the most prominent schools of kids with magical powers comes with many high expectations. Rumia and Sistine, passionate young magicians, join Alzano Imperial Magic Academy with high ambition; the two ladies expect an exciting journey through the school as they learn magic.

The two friends are completely from different backgrounds; Rumia Tingel is from a noble family, while Sistine is an orphan whom Rumia’s family fosters. Nevertheless, their joint interest brings the two young ladies together to learn how to use their magical powers properly.

Unfortunately, things turn wrong when they get Glenn Radars as a substitute instructor whose teaching style does not please them. Glenn is seen as lazy and weird by the students, who are later left completely surprised by his power when the school faces an enemy attack.

Throughout the anime, we see many similarities to ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’, so try to discover the drama between Glenn Radars and his disheartened students.

7. The Testament of Sister New Devil

The ‘Testament of Sister New Devil’ written by Tetsuto Uesu and well represented by Nekusuke Okuma, is like Riku Misora’s ‘Chivalry of a Failed Knight’.

The plot of the anime centres on three characters: Maria, Mio and Basara Toujou. Basara is a high school student when the two girls are suddenly adopted by his family and taken to his house as his stepsisters.

All three of them have big secrets that are about to be discovered that will change their lives forever. With Maria being a succubus and Mio being a Demon Lord, Basara is also from a bloodline of demon fighters; hence, the two girls ask him to be their master.

Together, a new formidable team is formed with extraordinary power. I recommend watching all 13 volumes to find out how they bring down all their enemies.

6. Trinity Seven

Trinity Seven has a hilarious storyline that follows Arata, who must meet seven women and bring them together to fight the White Demon Lord, who is locked in the eternal Library, which has suddenly opened up after it had been forbidden for years.

The battle begins when the Demon Lord attacks Arata with a mysterious power that engulfs him with a bright white light, and surprisingly, a girl named Lilim appears out of the blue. Another important character in the writer Kenji Saito is Hermes Lilith’s Grimoire.

5. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei

In this anime, ‘The Irregular at Magic High School,’ again, we see an underdog who was criticized earlier to prove everybody wrong. Tatsuya, our protagonist, is enrolled at First High School with his sister Miyuki, and the two are given an entrance exam to determine their classes.

Miyuki passed the test easily and was praised by everybody. She is taken to the first course where the bright students are. On the other hand, Tatsuya fails the test, is taken to the second course, and is considered inadequate.

Having his sister in the first course, Tatsuya was the target of many criticisms from his fellow students.

4. World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman

‘World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman’ is a mind-blowing anime show set in a private academy of gifted kids referred to as ‘Saviors’ in the show.

The Saviors are required to awaken memories from their previous lives, which can either be Shirogane, those who fight enemies using weapons from their bodies or Kuroma, those who use the magic of Mana to fight the enemies.

However, something extraordinary happens when a newly admitted student, Moroha Haimura, awakens memories of both Shirogane and Kuroma.

3. Demon King Daimao

Demon King Daimao is basically about the lives of two ambitious boys, Bouchiro and Akuto, and a young lady called Kena, who set up what they want their lives to be.

Initially, they make it into the Suhara Shrine; however, things start to go wrong, and they must change their plans to adapt to the new situation.

Will Kena execute her plan of getting a contract with the Law of Identity? Find out in this anime creatively written by Shotaro and well-illustrated by Soul Chi Ito.

2. Sky Wizards Academy

‘Sky Wizards Academy’, unlike the others on the list, is more of a futuristic setting with advanced technology. Kanata Age, our Protagonist, is a resident of ‘Misutogan’, one of the floating cities popularly known as ‘Black Master Swordsman’.

But as they say, ‘with advanced technology comes advanced problems’ Similarly, in the show, the cities are attacked by huge armoured insects that use magic, so it is up to the wizards to protect the cities.

Kanata goes through a tragic life from being the ace of the S128 special team to being demoted to the instructor of a team of the weakest students, Misora Whitale, Lecty Eisenach and Rico Flamei.

1. A Certain Magical Index

This technology meets magic anime, Kamijou Touma and Index, in an expected way, and together, the duo push each other to the limits they never imagined they had. However, Kamijou is considered a zero-level esper in his school, Academy City, a place of cutting-edge new technology.

On the other hand, Lux is a young girl with impressive skills and powerful memory, allowing her to quickly memorize information. Together, Kamijou and Lux battle a great deal of danger, espers and magicians. Lucky for them, Lux has memorized over a hundred thousand magical books in her head.
