I’m here with the question, can Naruto use Genjutsu? Well, he was not able to use Genjutsu. Now I know a lot of anime fans always wondered why Naruto couldn’t use Genjutsu. And the reason is rather simple. Genjutsu is a difficult technique to use.
Due to his inability to control his chakra, Naruto focused more on other types of Jutsus, like Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, which would eventually be effective for him and compensate for his inability to use Genjutsu.
Naruto’s Ninja Skills: Strengths and Weaknesses
Now, we all know Naruto to be a character that has indomitable strength. That’s why his main focus is developing his ninjutsu and taijutsu skills. And that allowed him to not rely on Genjutsu because of the lack of chakra development.
Why Genjutsu Isn’t Naruto’s Forte
1. The Nature of Genjutsu
Genjutsu is very efficient in controlling chakra. Also, Genjutsu was good at manipulating the opponent’s senses and creating illusions, which became extremely beneficial on the battlefield.
We all know that Naruto isn’t ideally a good user of this technique because, in the early stages of the series, we could look at Naruto during his training that he was struggling to use Genjutsu, therefore making it a less effective alternative for him.
2. Naruto’s Training Focus
As I said before, his main emphasis was practising jutsu like ninjutsu and taijutsu, which allowed him to develop one of his most famous techniques, his nature move, the Rasengan.
Naruto’s Attempts and Limitations with Genjutsu
1. Limited Exposure and Practice
Unlike Sakura and Sasuke, Naruto didn’t receive more training that involved Genjutsu, unlike his other two friends, because he was weaker in that area. But Kakashi and other mentors like Jiraiya sensei and Iruka sensei were working on ways to develop him for other techniques like Ninjutsu and Taijutsu, rather than Genjutsu.
So, In the sense, in the hope of helping him succeed to be a greater ninja they knew that making him learn Genjutsu would be almost rather a waste of time.
2. Inherent Chakra Characteristics
Due to the presence of Kurama, the nine-tailed beast inside of Naruto, his chakra points and control remained always disrupted, causing him to be unable to use Genjutsu techniques.
Because Genjutsu is all about creating illusions for your opponent. And Naruto really lagged in that technique for a long time, even during his time in the academy.
And that complicated some of the fights for him that involved using Genjutsu.
Comparing Naruto with Other Characters who can use Genjutsu
1. Sasuke Uchiha: Now we all know that Sasuke was Naruto’s rival, and he had the Sharingan, which allowed him to use Genjutsu at his own will. And Genjutsu was actually Uchiha clan’s one of the main powerful techniques that could defeat an enemy at one go. So the use of Genjutsu by Sasuke often gave him an advantage over Naruto in that area.
2. Itachi Uchiha: As a Naruto fan, we both know that Itachi Uchiha was one of the greatest minds of the series, and his ability to use the Sharingan was so exceptionally perfect that Genjutsu was almost like his cup of tea. Therefore, the way he could use Genjutsu was like no other ninja could do it, and he was very effective at manipulating opponents.
3. Kakashi Hatake: Kakashi Hatake is known to be the copy ninja in the series because he could perform multiple Genjutsu and ninjutsu techniques that other opponents could use. He could use an opponent’s technique against himself.
4. Kurenai Yuhi: She was well-known and famous for her Genjutsu techniques because she was one of the most skilled users in the Konoha district to use Genjutsu. As we all know, Genjutsu manipulates others, and she is a very precise, straightforward, and powerful beast with Genjutsu.
Conclusion
Now, after all this, we all know that during Naruto’s journey as a ninja, Not only did he mostly focus on enhancing his strengths, but he continuously showed us that you cannot always be weak.
Though he couldn’t make it to Genjutsu, he had other skills to shine in the battles.
